Warlimpirrnga Tjapaltjarri
Warlimpirrnga Tjapaltjarri was born in the Gibson Desert circa 1958. He was part of a global sensation in October 1984 when he, his brothers Thomas and Walala, his wife Yalti and five other family members walked out of the desert and into the 20th century. Until that day, the small family group now known as the "Last Nomads' or the 'Pintupi Nine', had lived the traditional Aboriginal life of nomadic hunter-gatherers with no contact with modern Australia.
