Walala Tjapaltjarri
Walala Tjapaltjarri was born in the Gibson Desert in the early 1960's. He was part of a global sensation in October 1984 when he, his brother's Thomas and Warlimpirrnga, and six family members walked out of the desert and into the 20th century. Until that day, the small family group now known as the "Last Nomads' or the 'Pintupi Nine', had lived the traditional aboriginal life of nomadic hunter-gatherers with no contact with modern Australia.
